Editorial and corrections policy

Last updated 26 September 2026. Our aim is to explain what a calculation can and cannot tell you, rather than present an estimate as a personal assessment.

Sources and examples

Tax-rate statements link to Inland Revenue or the relevant official agency. Worked examples are our own illustrative scenarios and identify the inputs. Interest and loan rates supplied by a user are assumptions, not market offers. Official source dates and our model-review date describe different things.

Authorship and assistance

Articles are published under Free Tax Calculator NZ. AI-assisted tools were used in drafting and development. No fictitious professional biography, reviewer credential or government endorsement is used. A link to an official source does not mean that agency has reviewed this website.

Review and correction

If an example appears inconsistent, send its URL, inputs, actual result and expected result through Contact. A useful report identifies the applicable rule and avoids personal identifiers. Reproducing the scenario helps determine whether it is an arithmetic error, an unsupported case or a difference in assumptions. Confirmed corrections should update the affected examples, code and review date together.

Publication dates

Published dates indicate when a guide becomes available on this website. A source-review date records when the example and its supporting references were checked. A later publication date is not evidence that a government rule changed that day.

Commercial independence

The current release does not contain paid rankings or affiliate recommendations. If advertising is introduced, it should be clearly distinguished from calculator controls and editorial content. Payment must not change the mathematical result.

Limits

This is general information and planning software, not individual financial, tax or legal advice. Important decisions may require facts and professional review that a web form cannot provide. Read the model’s supported assumptions.
